Fall is our favorite time here. The weather is perfect. The tourists are pros. And there is so much to do.
As summer winds down, Wilmington locals come out of hiding. The beach is beautiful and the parking is easy. Downtown is manageable. And there is so much to do — without the heat and humidity of summer. From Riverfest to Live Oak Pavilion, Fall is a great time to visit. And our two condos at Pontiac Place sit in the heart of the action, with underground parking.
Here are five events to make a weekend getaway — and a vacation rental in downtown Wilmington, NC — fun and affordable.
A legendary rock band at the Live Oak Pavilion
If you grew up on rock and roll, I do not have to tell you that Derek Trucks played guitar for the Allman Brothers Band. The Derek Trucks band was also a legend. Trucks and his wife formed this band in 2010.
Susan Tedeshi is classically trained and in possession of multiple Grammy Awards. Little Feat is joining them at this delightful outdoor pavilion on the Cape Fear River.
The Live Oak Pavilion is right on the Cape Fear River and an easy walk from either of our condos. We provide lawn chairs so you can sit in the cheap seats on the grass.
Art & free wine
Wander through Wilmington’s many art galleries and enjoy snacks and free wine every 4th Friday of the month. Most galleries are within walking distance of our Pontiac Place condos.
Riverfest!
The entire downtown turns into a festival, and it is all steps from the front door of Pontiac. If you sell wares at a booth, our parking makes that easy. If you want to enjoy the nightlife, you won’t have to drive home.
Haunted battleship
The battleship North Carolina becomes a ghost hunt and tour for October. You can walk from Pontiac to the Riverwalk and take a water taxi to the event. The perfect way to spend Halloween!
Fly Trap’s pumpkin patch!
Walk around the corner from Pontiac and enjoy a craft brew amid the pumpkins at Fly Trap’s beer garden and pumpkin patch! There is usually a food truck. Beers are $5 on Fridays!
